I picked up a used Mossberg 500 for $75.00 complete with pistol grip & shoulder stock... Look around, you'll be surprized what's available!

Don't worry about getting a shotgun chambered for 3-1/2 shells. 2- 3/4 inch shells will kill just as quick and at the same range as 3" and 3-1/2". The only thing 3 and 3-1/2 are good for is kicking the **** out of your shoulder. Some people say you have to have a magnum shell to kill a turkey, but that is total b.s., I've killed turkey with low speed 2-3/4 inch 4 shot.

New England makes a pump called the Protector and it can be picked up for $180 in most areas. It's basically a copy of the 870 and some of it's parts are interchangable.

where do you suggest I look for a deal like that? I looked on ebay and came up with nothing but they probably don't sell guns on ebay.

If you can get a Saiga 12 for $300, buy it. If you don't like it, I'll pay you what you paid for it.

is the saiga the russian gun I was asking about?? A gun guy just told me about it, but if thats what i'm looking at then it sounds like I can get them. he showed me a davidsons catolog. not being sarcastic about the saiga, like I said im a rookie and trying to learn. If thats the russian shotgun then thats the one or two that I want. again thanks for the replies!!! Im learning alot fast.

That's a Saiga 12. Thanks to Robocop10mm for use of his image.

If you are looking for a great one for HD or filling a hill with lead, look at this one. http://world.guns.ru/shotgun/sh09-e.htm
Pretty mean, but I don't know what kind of price tag would be attached.

mossberg 500 or the remington 870 would be my first choice primarily because i like to have whatever the law enforcement and military use. if u want a pistol grip i would check out advanced technologies inc. they have a collapsable stock similar to that on a m16 that can quickly be transformed into a plain pistol grip and back in seconds, plus youll have plenty of cash for other awsome upgrades without passing the $500 price range
