Is it safe to shoot .410 slugs outta the full length barrel?

Ok thanks a guy was telling me not to that the barrel was to long an could blow up

Someone told me that long ago stating that older .410s with old soft lead slugs could slow down substantially towards the end of the barrel leaving more lead behind until it finally got to be too much and blew... I doubted it as much then as now

Yes to slugs, no to the long colts.

My H&R 410 is actually quite good with slugs plus they're fun to play with.

A .410 slug is .410, versus the .452 bullet of the Colt. The Colt is also rated at about 2,000 PSI higher than the shotshell- and a totally different burn rate for powder.

Revolvers like the Judge can do it because they are designed for it. Your .410 is not, and WILL eventually kill or maim you after you abuse it enough.
