Default Ghost rings for sport/hunting?

Ok guys I'm getting my Hatsan Escort MP-A next week hopefully, its coming with ghost ring sights and a sight rail. Will the standard sights be any good for sport or are they just meant for combat/tactical/competition use?.

I just keep remembering my dealers words when I was talking to him about sporting use guns and then I asked him about his SPAS 12, he said, "its alright but its more designed for shooting people" . I've got a feeling the MPA is made along similar lines but I'd like to shoot game and vermin in conjunction with birdshot, as well as shooting targets in a range environment with solid slug which it may be more suited to.

How do you think I will get on?. Will I end up buying another red-dot for the rail maybe?. I know its largely personal preferences but please let me know your thoughts. Thanks

Thanks Hockalouis, the same style as the 3-dot is what is fitted to the MP-A except the rear dots are green and the front is red.

Oh I do also have, but I just wondered if this would be of any use to me aswell because its a cheap gun and would see more rough feild use if so. Sounds like it wont be though, so it may just be kept for target/fun shooting down the back garden range. I dont really care because I just had to have one for what it costs!.

A ghost ring is very worthwhile for a tactical shotgun. I don't hunt with shotguns, so can't help you there.

Thank you, I have the gun now and will look forward to trying it out. To be honest I think it does have potential for sport shooting.

I've got A ghost ring sight on my shotgun. I haven't done any hunting with it but I have shot some skeet. I was actually surprised at how well I did with it since it has a short 18 inch barrel.

I am surprised if u did well w/GRS's in skeet but certainly NOT because it is a short barrel. Were you actually USING the sights, and how? You basically can't lead a moving target at shotgun ranges with GRS's...

Just kinda winged it really. Wasn't paying much attention just out with some buddies shooting. I do know that I hit the first 9 of 10.

Standing behind or beside the thrower and shooting clay targets is not shooting "Skeet". And it sure ain't Sporting Clays. I have shot hand thrown targets with a .22 rifle with some success. Skeet or Sporting, assuredly not. The only kind of sight I have ever used with any success wingshooting is an optical red dot. The convention wisdom is wrong about those.
