I'm looking to see if anyone out there knows what site i might go to find the age and worth of a Springfield, J Stevens arms (Chicopee, Mass) 410 double barrel. I found it after my father died, i have the serial number but can't find a site to look it up.

Thanks
Jake

Well, in about 1920, the Savage company bought J Stevens Arms and Tools, and it operated as a subsidiary of Savage until about 1950, when the name went away. Springfield was a Savage brand name also, so you have a somewhat mingled naming history of all 3.

You can contact Savage customer service. You can also post pictures here (in focus please, well lighted, entire gun and closeups where appropriate) and ALL markings on gun- we may be able to give you a range of years that model was made.
