I got two Benelli's the M2 LH and the Ultra-Light and both are great shooters. I also have the 870 which is my all purpose gun. I got 3 barrels for it.
Hunter -- give folks a chance. LOL
FOr your purposes I suppose the standards are the Mossberg 500 and 870's but the other pumos like Brownings and Benelli's line are all competitive. For the money? Hands down it is the Mossberg combos. Remington, whose feel I actually prefer if I'm not carrying it much, have declined in quality IMO to the point where I wouldn't buy ANY 870 anymore.
I dont own a shotty but i do own several shotguns including an 870 and a 500 but shooting compitions call for more thats way big clays shoots have a pump gun class was your first car a porsch?shoot what you have and shoot often if you really enjoy the games you will figure it out the more money i spend the better i get (i wish)

Favorite brand has a lot to do with the way the gun feels in your hands i dont hunt (tho i would like to)but i shoot alot of clays and my prefrence has always been for browning hands down
Beretta 391 is my gun of choice, reliable, sleek, awesome handling, soft recoiling gas action. I can shoot 200 rounds in a day and not feel anything the next day, perfect shotgun for everything from hunting to sporting clays, it would even be good for 3-gun if there was a way to fit it with an extended mag...
I have had a Mossberg 930 SPX, 870 Wingmaster, 1100, and shot a couple other 870's and 1100's as well as an issued 590 SBS. The 1100's are my favorite but like the options on the 930 SPX.

I have owned or shot a lot of different shotguns but in my opinion benelli makes the best by far I have owned a nova for about 4 years then this year I upgraded to a super black eagle 2 and it is the best feeling and shooting gun I have ever came across well worth the price
