Default Do slugs wear out your barrel

Do slugs wear out a smoothbore faster than a slug barrel? Significantly faster? Enough to matter? My friends' dad seems to think so.

I would say less accurate. But not worn out. What's to wear it's already smooth?

ALL ROUNDS DOWN THE TUBE WEAR OUT BARRELS.

There is an infinite number of tests to determine which slugs are more destructive than others.

Unless you are throwing 10K rounds down range per year, don't generate ulcers about the wear. Barrels are cheap and if you toss that much lead, get a sponsor!

Get her dirty, then clean her so she starts to respect you. When her trust is complete, she will serve you well for a lifetime!

That's what I was thinking. I've got 80 slugs cast and crimped and I cant find anyone willing to shoot them

Why won't you shoot them? Are you unsure your loading practices were sound? Why would you want someone else to risk their gun and face when you are unwilling to do so?

A slug is lead. A barrel is steel. How much wear can their be?

Many orginal Brown Bess Musket over 250 years old are in shootable condition. These guns have fired tons of lead balls and are not worn
out. These were not patched rounds.

I have complete confidence that they are safe to shoot. They'd already be shot if I had a car as I have my own shotgun. Getting to the range is more difficult.
