So I got my Browning a new companion to keep it company. Hope to shoot it tonight if the rain holds off. It is a Tristar viper g2 sporting 30" ventilated rib. The barrel is ported and has 4 external choke tubes. Wood stock with adjustable comb. I looked around and held a lot of guns. I just kept coming back to this one. Hope I made a good choice, it sure seems to have more bang for the buck, at 1/3 the cost of the only other one I liked.

I bought mine while in Fort Bliss TX - The gun folk said the Browning came first and it was called A-500, not A-500R. There was great wailing & gnashing of teeth over plastic parts and all manner of evil was attributed to it. It was only talked about over hush tones at the local gun clubs.

My gunsmith advised me to sell it and not local if you can read between the lines. Yet for all the bad press, the gun was very reliable for me but it didn't fit me well. Gas guns were lighter and had less recoil when shot side by side w my Browning. You can buy one on GunsAmerica for the same price I paid in 1988- $500.

Never heard of TriStar - could be a great gun or a piece of ****e. Lots of things can go wrong w auto. Who will stand behind it if the gun goes "Smuckers?"

It cleverly says Beretta style chokes. Exactly what that means is lawyer country.

Why does the company matter ?

Personal Example: I have a very old T/C in .357 and one of barrels wouldn't fire. No idea why. Bo-cu $$$ to ship pistol on your own dime but SW sent UPS Postage label free of charge. Fixed my gun - Free of charge and sent it back to me.
