Conversion for 870 20gauge

I have a Remington 870 youth 20 gauge that was my sons. Is there a conversion stock to make it into a tactical shotgun or is it just cheaper to buy a 12 gauge tactical shotgun? I know there are lots of conversion kits for the 870 12 gauge but what about a youth 20 gauge?

The receivers are different sizes and the 12 gauge stuff will not fit a 20. Ditto the fore end. Unless you have one of the pre-1980 20s built on the 12 gauge sized receiver.

Yep...get that. Do they make a reciever for the 20?

they make stocks, forarms, and barrels for 20 ga. you just need to make sure they are for the 20 ga. and with the 20 vs 12, it depends on preference. both will nock down a bg at 7-10 yards just fine. and some food for thought, a normal looking shotgun will look better on you over a tacticool looking shotgun.

I'm not really into the whole tactical thing, but a pistol stock would be nice. I am more into functionality then looks.

The receiver IS the gun according to the government. Go to www.remington.com and download an owner's manual. It has a neat exploded diagram that will help you out with parts and proper nomenclature.

To each their own. As long as your happy shooting the gun. Now in the op it says tactical shotgun, now define what tactical is in your mind? the 20 as is will put a bg down like I said. Are you looking for a shorter barrel? You said you like pistol grips. Ever thought about a flash light? I'm sure you can do all that with a 20. everyone in this forum could give suggestions but only you has to be happy and confident with your equipment.
