I've never been to a shooting range in my life. Im luckey enough to have 120ac to play on.

Patterning a shotgun I usually shoot a large paper target at 20 and 40 yards. Use your different chokes and loads until you get your desired results.

Also fyi I don't know if your mossberg will shoot a 3 1/2 in or not but if you choose to just be ready...

Default chokes

I had my 28'' inch vent rib remington 870 barrel sent off to ''Poly Choke'' . They cut barrel /installed their choke w/ compensator . total lenth 19.5 ....9 settings of choke in a compact pkg .....Best of all around situations hunting /defense. Best mod for the money Ive ever spent . Total price for choke ,installation ,shipping from Texas to Wis. ,return .was 150.00 ..5 day turn-around
