Default Bought a Mossberg 500 12 gauge today

So I had accumulated $577 and wanted to blow some off and I went to Walmart I fell in love with this Maverick Model 88 it said 12 ga but was a 20 don't want another 20 so the guy looked for a low cost 12 ga and this is what he found for me. I cannot wait to test it out but gonna have to wait a month to do so and the barrel wasn't attached so had to do so myself. With a price of $255 and $277 with tax it wasn't a bad purchase and it has real wood not fake. Came with 2 choke tubes. Left me with $304 in the bank. Also is it normal for the pump not to come back if you pull it forward when it is empty unless you press the decompress trigger?

I like Mossberg. It is the oldest family run gun maker in the USA. According to Mossberg.

It has an action release to allow you to open the action without pulling the trigger. READ the owner's manual. If you didn't get one, go online and download one.

No, there should be a "button" or lever near the trigger guard that releases the bolt and allows you to work the action. This necessary to safely load or unload your pump gun.

Read the owner's manual.

You have 3 choke tubes. The modified choke tube is in the barrel. You are going to encounter a "plug" that limits your Mossberg to 3 shots. Take the barrel off, point the magazine tube down and shake the gun. The plug should fall out. Put the plug up so you can find it. You will need the plug for bird and squirrel hunting.

Oh lol I've never had a pump action before I'm mostly used to semi auto. But pump 12 ga are awesome.

Excellent! And wait till you buy the 18-1/2" Open Cylinder security barrel and screw it on (READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!) -- you'll get this stupid grin on your face that won't quite go away for a while!

When u say two chokes you mean two EXTRA? What chokes do you have!? If only two I presume Mod and Full...

Nice gun and can't beat the value and reliability -- period.
