sounds like you have your bases covered.

i just want to do whatever possible to keep my own weapon from being pointed at me when i enter the door (a bitter irony), or used on someone else.

I've never tried low brass shells in it. It's a defensive weapon, so I keep it loaded with buckshot, and/or slugs, and I practice with same.

the M-4 is a regular gas gun. BTW, the Benelli M-4 is standard issue for the USMC.
Just like my Stoeger M2000, since they are made by Benelli its basically the M2. Its been an awesome gun

I have an M4 modified with compcarrier tube and it is flawless. I use it for everything from busting clays to 100 yard slug shots. It is as good as it gets, at a considerable cost. The gun was $1600 and I put another $400 into it to make it "USA" made to put the full length tube on it.
FN makes a very competitive shotgun that is made in the USA so it comes from the factory with a 7 rd tube. It is nearly half the price of the M4 and gets rave reviews. It isn't a Benelli though. :-)

Have a Benelli auto mostly for turkey hunting, Browning light 12 for birds, S&W tactical pump, Mossy Maverick, and a 930 mossy that is going back to the shop. I bought it used and it is a piece of junk. Something is bad wrong with it. Shop dealer says the recoil ring may be in backwards (like a Browning). Have put nearly 50 rounds through it trying to get the bugs out. Hope he is right but it is for sale in either case. Will not have something that is not dependable.

again, i'm sure benelli's are awesome.

but my 930 was $490, racks in shells from the tube, shoots cheap low brass, not one single malfunction so far. if i was looking for a semi shotgun, i would take a good look at the mossberg 930, i'd say its worth a look at about half the price or less.

i sure hated my factory plastic stock though. invested about $100-150 (can't remember exactly) and my mossberg is now "beauty and A beast."
