Default best hunting shotgun for under 800$

i have a mossberg 500 it is the combo barrel deal from big 5. it came with one 28" barrel smooth bore fixed choke, and an 18" barrel i recently bought a pistol grip so now i just use it for home defense. next year I'm looking for a dedicated hunting shotgun 12 gauge semi auto with the capability of accepting multiple barrels for cheap easy to maintain has a decent shell capacity and a reliable gas system or as reliable as can be for harsh or extreme hunting.

The selection of 12 gauge semi auto shotguns is mind boggling. Do you need 3-1/2" capability? What are you going to be hunting? For any Federal migratory species 3 is all you are allowed capacity wise. Everyone can now tell you why one like theirs is "best", but truth be known one from any of the major manufacturers will do the job, and you should be able to get almost any used under $800. IMO a good used gun beats hell out of a new cheap gun.

i will be hunting everything to be more specific, i need a shotgun in semi auto that is the most versatile, most capable that can hunt anything anywhere holds the most shells and is very reliable. i know there are only a handful of shotguns like this such as the mossberg 930 and benneli but id like to here from others as well what their favorite shotgun is so i can compare them and decide for myself, i have no idea where to start.

I have the Beretta A400. That is more than what you want to spend but my friend has the Outlander and I know a guy with the A400 and all of us are very happy with them. I think the Outlander is in the price you mentioned.

I have seen used Benellis in your price range. The Montefeltro models are available with walnut stocks and more traditional lines. I have a 20 ga Monty, if I need a little more umph I run 3 inch ammo.

Being "inertia driven" Benellis are not the softest shooters, but I am durn sure proud to own some.
