Best Ammo For Mossberg 590A1?
 

What's the best ammo one might use for a Mossberg 590A1 12 gauge shotgun? :confused:

Depends on the task to determine which is "best" but any 12 gauge 2 3/4 or 3inch shell will shoot just fine through it

What is your intended use?

Home defense?

Any thing you can put through it

What kind of area do you live in? Rural, Apartment, Farmhouse?

Do you live alone? Is overpenetration an issue?

Heck, this question is like going on a boating forum and asking "what is the best anchor?" :D


FWIW: I live in a semi-rural area, and have Federal 12gauge 3" OO Buck Magnum 15 pellets, loaded in my Winchester Model 1300, with 5 shells of Winchester PDX1 Defender, riding in a soft sidesaddle on the stock.

The sticky about fighting shotguns at the top of this forum is a good read, and can give you a good idea of the pros and cons of different HD shotgun configurations.

I like federal "Blackcloud" , its wicked on critters

When I keep the shotgun loaded for home defense,I load it with #4 buckshot. There's less risk of overpenetration of walls as opposed to 00 or 000,this is of utmost importance if your not the only one living in your residence or if you are in an apartment. There's also a load particularly for HD when you have to worry about others in the house,I forget who makes it but its a mix of #2 and #4 buckshot.

Yea for the house I like go'n with the #4 shot
