I have a Bad feeling about this, But SuperDave I have to Disagree with you. The Remington 870 the BEST PUMP ACTION SHOTGUN IN THE WORLD (Followed by the Moss 500).
On an unrelated note, Remington is one of the best gunmakers in the the world.
Military thinks so too, 870 (M870) and Model 700 Bolt-action Rifle (M-24 SWS and M40-A seires.) have Variants currently in use today, Sure the Benelli has a variant(M1014) but the Remingtons have more uses, and Are Issued to the Standard Soldier.
Remington Has no need to hire the "Best" Shooters in the world to show off their products because everyone knows, YOU CAN'T BEAT A REMINGTON.
So, SHUT UP SUPERDAVE WE GET YOUR POINT AND DONT AGREE SO BE MATURE AND SHUT YOUR FACE. Please excuse me for that. __________________

I own an 870 and a mossy500. I do think Quality wise the 870 is a better gun than the Mossy, Not by much. That being said, I usually grab the 500 when going sm game hunting because I've had it several years longer and it just feels more comfortable to me like an old pair of shoes. I also know my mossy has been through some real rough treatment and has never, ever failed to proform. I am on a limited budget and cant understand why someone would spend 4-5 times as much for something that doesn't out preform these two shotgons. So if the Nova out lasts either of these we can still throw them in the Bushes, get another and still be way ahead of the game. Status!!! I can't afford a status symbol so I look for proformance and durability. __________________

Am I the only one that thinks remington is trying to copy benelli with their 887 nitro mag? Now why why would they dump all the money into producing a new shotgun if they already had the the better shotgun? And I dont think anyone reading this can deny that they are trying to copy the benelli. I mean think about it like this if you owned a race car and it was the best car on the track would you try to make it like someone elses car whiich isnt as good as yours or would you keep doing what you have been doing? | |

The 870 is a good gun but it seems like the 870 fans feel that its the best shotgun ever and built and nobody could ever build a better shotgun. As far as pump shotgun techinogly goes the 870 is the limit. I just dont belive that to be true, although some may. | |

Well you had the right feeling. It was a bad idea to weigh in on this one at least in the way you did. I was in complete agreement and was looking for a intellectual response as to why you felt the 870 was better than the Benelli. But you screwed up and lost my respect wit that unwarranted personal attack on Dave. That was truly uncalled for and was in fact more immature than anything Dave has said to Underfire. Their battle is just that "Theirs."
I may not agree with Dave about Benelli's, but I stayed out of it seeing this is an argument based on opinion and Dave and Undefire have been arguing this for some time now.
Edit: Why is that when a govenmental agency employees something the sheep all line up to say it is the best? I hear it with Glocks and Police and now Remmy with Military. Truth is, they get it because they offered the best discount. Is the Ford Crown Vic the best car out there because that is what cops drive?
Why is it that special teams like SWAT carry Benelli's if the Remmy is better? Why not the 11-87? __________________

Im still waiting for the remington fans to tell me why remington is now trying to build shotguns like benelli because theirs no denying the 887 nitro mag was desinged to be like the benelli nova pumps | |
