If that's the case then, I would choose a shotgun that will fire+cycle 3.5" shells. That way you're not limited. The 870 won't do that unless it's the SuperMag.

We have three Benelli shotguns in our house and have never had any issues. A friend that I hunt with has a Benelli as well without a glitch. I've owned an 870 that would bind up after a few shots and not eject the spent shell. My vote is on one of the 'nellis. Or a Barrett 50 BMG for those goosers a mile out.

And for ease of maintenance/cleaning the Benellis win hands down...much less complicated. I'm not sure about the 870, but the novas can be field stripped without tools.

thanks E-Rez i will take that into consideration but dont you think that a 50 BMG is a little underkill. i was thinking bigger like and RPG or something

The 870s can be field stripped pretty easily

I can personally vouch for my Remington 870 Express magnum, which I have used in most reasonable (and some unreasonable) weather conditions and never had a single problem.
I find my 870 simple to strip, While to completely strip the gun you do need some sort tools (Not special though just a Screw driver and a hammer), However you rarely, if ever will need to strip this beast in the field where tools are unavaliable. There are also an almost endless list of after market parts that are compatible with this bad boy.

If an 870 sounds a bit weak too you, Try looking at Mossberg 500's. I've never used one, But I've heard that their Brutes.

Good Luck choosing your WMD.

(If you do look at an 870, Make sure it's a Supermagnum, becuase they cycle 3 1/2'' rounds.)
