Anyone have a Remington 28" remchoke barrel for sale?
I just bought my first shotgun. It's a used Remington 1100 with a 26" barrel with rem. choke.
I want a 28" barrel and before ordering I thought I'd ask here if anyone has a used one for sale or trade. The one I have is in perfect shape and it just has one Mod choke tube. I looked on gunbroker but the only ones they have right now are either new and expensive or fixed chokes which I don't want.
Nice looking shot gun, good luck with your barrel search.
I'm away on a 2 week trip for work and can't wait to go home and shoot it some more.
All this free time here in the hotel has got me looking at just buying a whole other gun and maybe just keep the barrel the way it is.
Thinking Remington Express 870 Super Magnum.
This way I'll get the 28" barrel I want and 3 1/2-inch capability.
Not to mention it's a whole new gun for maybe $100-$150 more than what a
barrel would cost me for the 1100.
Sorry if I sound like a little kid at a candy store but I live in Jersey and it took me a few months to get my buyers permit so it's overdue.
How long have you been at this game? I ask, because a 3-1/2" pump will kick like the proverbial mule, especially compared to a tame shooter like the 1100.
I have three 1100s with 28" barrels, an LT20, a standard 12, and a Magnum with a Steel Shot barrel I had shortened to 28", so you might say I consider that combination practically ideal. But, I still prefer 26" for Skeet, so I have 2 of those barrels, too. I learned to shoot without the benefit of knowing that you have to have longer barrels like they spout today - thank goodness.
Haven't been at it for too long. Between me, my dad &
my brother we shot 3 cases. So about 750 shots at the range.
I figured the 3.5 will kick hard but most of the time I'll just
be shooting smaller shells. Thinking a 28" barrel with 3.5"
shell capacity will be flexible to do it all. Skeet, turkey, dove...etc.
My poor dad loves it but can't take the time off from work to
get the gun permit. Again, it's a 3 month complicated process
here in Jersey. He grew up hunting back in Portugal and is great
at it so I'd love to buy him a gun here too but he'll just have to
share mine for a while. I'm working on it. Got the forms all filled
out now just need his 2 references to sign his paperwork.
Unless you plan on doing a lot of goose hunting, you do not need the 3 1/2". For Turkey and Ducks, 3" is plenty. I love the 26" for most work. Handier and swings nicely for me. Of course, I have been known to shot skeet with an 18" Cylinder Bore riot gun. You just gotta get on the target quickly. I started off with a 30" Full choke 870. I learned to wait a while before shooting to allow the pattern to open up.
I acctually would like to try some goose and turkey hunting.
I'm sure 3" would do the trick but it's about the same price for a 3.5
so I figure just get that.
