870 Wingmaster Question
Hey everyone! I know I haven't been around the forums much lately but things have been crazy at work and I've been traveling a lot.
I need some help from the gang if anyone has some time!
I know my way around pistols and rifles pretty well but I have very little experience with shotguns...just never had one growing up. I just purchased a nice 870 Wingmaster from a buddy of mine and I am excited to have it. It's got this Choate composite stock with a pistol grip on it and it's just too long for my arms: I'm not a fan. I'd like to pull it off there and replace it with something a little shorter and more comfortable for me. I've done some digging around online and found a couple of stocks I'm interested in, but I have no idea how to pull the stock off this thing to replace it.
I mean, how hard can it be? Can't be too difficult, I just don't know what tools I might need or any tips or tricks that shotgun people probably know offhand. I mean, I can only assume pulling the recoil pad off will give me access to some kind of screw inside the stock that holds it on there, but I'd rather ask first and do it right.
Any help anyone can be will be appreciated!
Hope everyone has a great day!
You are correct. Pull the recoil pad to access the stock screw. Very simple operation..
You'll most likely need a phillips screwdriver long bit to remove the recoil pad. Once you do that you'll need a LONG large flathead screwdriver to remove the stock screw.
As always you guys are great. :)
I figured it wasn't too difficult but I wanted to be sure before I got in over my head. Thanks so much!
Haven't talked to you in a while Mr. Bear, I hope you're doing well!
