I've shot both multiple times, and the everything seems to cycle better on the 870. Both are good, but I would, and did, get the 870. I've got 2 now cause I liked the 1st so much. My brother got the nova cause it was a tad cheaper. Hasn't had but just a couple minor problems, and those were prob from lack of cleaning. But he likes the feel of mine better still.

It wouldn't be a thread mentioning 870 without hockalouie trashing them. Take his comments on Remington with a grain if salt LoL.

If the 870 is not followed by Wingmaster, put it back and get the Benelli is what I would do.

Amen - but Old Hock has taken a minor deviation from his std dogma, Benelli is championed while he usually cheers for Mossberg 590 A1.

Nova should go head to head w Rem 887 not 870 Express.

Thanks for many good replies.

My I love American guns, so i think ill get one more 870. This time 870 synth. 3,5" RH. But its not really that cheap in Norway, i have to pay 4800NOK= 680 dollars.

Theres always some of those guys in the debate. I dont really take it seriously if someone says either 870's, Mossberg 590/500's, or Nova's suck. You simply cant say that they suck, because they are good guns. But i respect the fact that some may have been unlucky with one gun or the other. Also some guns just fits you better then other.

Anyways, I love the United States of America, so i think i know where im going to end. I also love the 870 ive already got.

Just a little update. Its been a while since i wrote this post, and now ive got both of them. 870 express and supernova ext. tube and some other modifications. The benelli was of course much more costly, but ill tell you i like the 870 better! It is my favorite hunting gun, wether its goose, grouse, ducks etc! Awesome gun!

I can't speak for the late model 870s, but the express I bought new in 1992 has been flawless.
