410 lever
Was thinking about getting a rossi or marlin lever action 410. I originally wanted a 30-30 for deer/anything but I can't use a rifle for hunting any game in my county. I have a 12 ga so I would just be using this for hunting small game/plinking/ sorta HD if needed. BUT I do not know much about the ballistics on the shell. Most likely ill only be using slugs. Anyone share their info on the 410?

.410 slugs are pretty much worthless for hunting anything other than small game. Their accuracy is poor also. For plinking they are fun to shoot but not much good for anything else. Even then it is an expensive way to plink.

Im guessing operater error, 410 slugs, in my experience, are very accurate, given that you do your part, at self defense distances, and from a long barrel, have more power than a .357 magnum. I wouldnt have any problem using a 410 shotgun with slug for deer hunting where rifles arent legal (indiana for example) and of course 410 is legal. For what you want i would go for it. Im wantin one myself

No rifles in Indiana? Not so, I read many post from Indiana concerning rifle hunting. From what I read they can use Pistol length Ctgs. in rifles. They use .44 Mags . .454 Casulls things of that type. I doubt the use of a .410 slug as a deer class fire arm any where.

You know what i meant, and the 410 slug in a full length barrel is the same power as magnum pistol, it may be more dificult maybe a little less then ethical in most circumstances, but it will kill a deer. Personally i would rather use my bow (moot point, 410 isnt legal in wa) and the op said nothing about using it for deer, i was just correcting some less then accurate info and point out that it is legal in some places. And on smaller deer within 30 yards it has more than enough accuracy and still plenty of power. (Gotta be a direct heart or brain hit)

I've seen a .410 kill a deer up to 80 yards it just isn't the best weapon of choice

I think 410 has plenty of use, my grandfather got his when he was 6, and it is what put food on the table for his family for many years. I inherited that shotgun about a year ago. And i would trust my life with it if necessary.
