4 GA Identification
Hey guys
I am trying to ID this old 4 GA Shotgun, the only marking on it that I can find says "S WARREL" The stock has a ivory type material inbedded in it, the barrell has fancy carvings along the sides, I have been told its from late 1800's by elderly family members. It is in beautiful shape for its age. Any info would be appreciated. I will post a photo soon as I find someone with a digital camera.

Anxiously awaiting pics. I'm worthless at identifying anything even remotely obscure, but dammit, I like to see pretty pics of pretty guns.

There was a Gunmaker named Sheriff Warrel working at Green Row Portsmouth, UK from 1864-1867, His son was listed in census as gunmaker's asst. Sheriff died in 1896 in Plymouth, his son in 1900. Made a lot of shotguns, including 8s. A 4 bore would be a rarity. Need pics. Cartridge gun or muzzleloader?
