Default 3 1/2" semi

Just looking for some advice on a future shotgun purchase.

Im looking for a semi auto shotgun that will work with 3 1/2 inch magnum shells and still work with most 2 3/4 inch shells.
I have done some research on this and have found that not many guns are capable of this. I would not mind being limited to using heavy 2 3/4 shells but i do not want to be limited to only 3 inch and larger shells.

My price range is anything under $1400 for a new gun and around $750 for a used gun.

Any advice would be greatly apreciated.

I did the math on this afew years ago and am going from memory and at my age that`s not awalys a good thing. I do rember for sure thr I was totally suprised at the reuslts, but as I rember the max. effective range gain of a 3 1/2 in. 12 ga over a 3 in 12 ga was less than 5 yrds. With the extra cost of ammo and the extra recoil I desided to stick with a 3 in gun.

Three 1/2" shells are over-rated, not needed for sportsman, expensive and create issues like this. But if that's what you want; I'd stick with a Beretta Xtrema II. The gas system with the inertia bolt will work the best with what you're talking about. Beretta says that the 28" will operate the heaviest of magnums down to subsonic 2 3/4" loads. You could get a black synthetic without kickoff for around $1300 new.
