Unless you reload, the cost of 28 gauge shells is a killer, and first you have to find them. A Remington 870 pump or 1100 semi in 28 gauge is a highly serviceable and fun gun, but to get the most benefit from one you need a gun that is really scaled to fit the size. Those receivers started out as 28 gauge guns, but then they put the 20 on the same receiver, so there went any advantage. In the higher dollar SxSs the 28 is a quail hunter's dream.
What could have happened... did.
