p35bhp55, you do understand that shortening the barrel could just as easy make it shoot worse? Just because some gun that has a shorter barrel shoots better than this one really proves nothing. If you shorten the barrel chances are that it will change the accuracy of this gun. But better or worse is any ones guess.

I wish you luck. Slugs can be difficult to sort out. The most accurate smoothbore slug barrel I ever saw was a 28" old Wingmaster with a modified choke. With some slugs that guy could group about 4" at 150 yards with a bead sight. Best I could do was about 6" with that gun. Best I could do with MY 28" Remington barrel was about 5" at 100 yards, with a different brand of slugs no less. I was a 1,000 yard rifleman so not knowing how to shoot was not my issue.

And if you're shooting sabots, you really should be using a rifled barrel.

And, BTW, I have chronographed many slug and buckshot loads before I retired from LE.

My results were very different from yours.

Yeah, I am worried I could screw it up worse. I will be trying different ammo, tightening the barrel bolt down just like my twelve, cleaning the snot out of the barrel, zero out a scope then raise or lower the cantilever so I can leave the reticle centered as much as possible, all before I finally get to the place where anything gets cut. Having no answers where anyone has had luck doing a cut isn't making me rush into it either.

I have no trouble believing that. I never chronographed a single slug or buck load. All maximum magnum waterfowl stuff. Sort of makes sense, because I would think the slug and buck would behave more like a pistol with the lower weight of shot/payload.
