Geeze, that round looks ungodly.

Here is closeup pic of Rob's 12GA FH, a Borchardt falling block
action. It was the first gun that the 12GA FH was put in. Real nice. In picture is along brass 12ga case with one of Rob's 2000gr bore rider, solid, streamlined slugs. 2nd picture is my Savage 210 that I added a heavy barrel to and did a whole bunch of testing.Ed http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/medium/2430DSC00694.JPG http://www.gunownerstv.com/redone.jpg |
Here is picture of my Savage 210 that I added heavy barrel
chambered for 12GA FH. Ed http://www.gunownerstv.com/redone.jpg |
Also we redid on of the 1887 Win replicas with a long
heavy barrel. It has modern steel and heatreatment and an examplle load is a 435gr slug at 2700.Ed http://www.gunownerstv.com/87L.jpg |
Good Lord, how much does each round cost? I bet that thing has the knockdown power of a Mack dumptruck.
|
Don't cost much. Plastic cases we experiment with are 15 cents each, just regular shotgun components. We use wads where needed in brass and plastic.
The brass cases we made from bmg brass cost about 6-8 bucks, but they can be reloaded a hundred times. Here is picture one sectioned tp show that there is no thinning after 35 rounds.Dixie heat treated slugs are 75 cents. Jacketed ones buck and a half or little more.. not bad at all, can any 12ga fire this round?
|
No- only guns that have chamber lengthened and most important with
heavy barrels. The slower powder loads with larger amounts of powder have a longer taller average pressure curve and would split the barrels on regular shotguns. Thus the use of heavy barrel NEF Ultra Slug Gun, and adding a heavy barrel to my Savage. And a heavy barrel put on the falling block. Our longer chambers will fire all 12ga rounds that are shorter. Our brass case is 3.85" and 3.5", 3", 2.75", and 2.5" 12ga will all fire in our chambers.Ed |
Here is picture of our case sectioned next to a
thin factory brass case to show the great strength. And our case in pic was fired 35 times and shows no stretching. Ed http://www.gunownerstv.com/12ss.jpg |
