1100 tactical... what are your thoughts
so I'm about to buy the most expensive shotgun I've ever wanted the Remington 1100. i know there nice shotguns and this one comes built from Remington with an 8 shot tube and 22 inch barrel 3 inch chamber other than that pretty simple... what are your thoughts on the gun and what would a fair price be?

I have 5 of them, and love them. Have had one for 49 years. None have any of the tactical stuff though. And before someone starts telling you horror stories, I will say that I haven't taken them all over North America because they are un-reliable. And I have have had probably close to 40 other shotguns, some that cost 10 times as much or more, that I did not keep.

One of the best Semi Autos made. You could also look at the FN SLP or Mossberg 930 "tactical"

I have had a few 1100's over the years.
Used them for
Duck hunting
Dove hunting
Trap shooting
Skeet shooting.
Not the same gun of course.
The only problem was with my reloads.
Not the gun.
Love the inter changeable barrel system.

CAUTION: Any minute now you will be bombarded with posts on how much of an useless, unreliable, worthless piece of $hit anything Remington, and especially shotguns, has become, do not believe it, buy your gun of choice, shoot it and enjoy it and you will most likely love it, Remington has always made a good product as far as I'm concerned, save a few lemons which any mass production process produces. That gun is on my list of future purchases as well, I don't have a semi auto shotgun.

yeah a bunch of people have warned me about the freedom group but never had any actual proof to back it up... the one worry I do have is since Newton happened the FG is selling off all their firearms companies... don't know if it happened yet or in the works or if its just a rumor

P.S. - That gun comes with a 2-3/4" chamber, which is right for tactical.

I've used 1100s on the range for many years.
Many of my officers who had trouble qualifying with 870s, shot perfect scores with the 1100.
I like my Benelli a bit better, but you could never go wrong with an 1100.

The current 1100 is very nice. I am not Remington basher, for they still make some good firearms. Having said that a well taken care of 1100 from 15 years ago would be a great gun.
