I too have just sold my last gun and I also think obama is doing a great job! Starting of the new year right. I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.

But the thing is, if the paper trail stops at your door, YOU will probably be held responsible.....

if you can legally do a face to face transaction in the state you live in, i doubt they could do much to you.

several years ago i got questioned about a shotgun i had sold that had been used in an armed robbery/home invasion. all they were doing was trying to trace the path the weapon took and see who was involved. discussion lasted about thirty minutes and they left. never heard anymore about it.

Glad it worked out. But COULD they make a federal case out of it if they wanted to?

doubtful. i had no knowledge of the criminal act and had no association with those that were involved. the firearm was sold twice before those who used it in the crime. that was many years ago, and now i do things differently. i have declined a few face to face deals because the person wanting to buy one of my firearms was hesitent on using an FFL for the transaction. that to me was a huge red flag.

It is a requirement. However, if the DL address doesn't match you can use a utility bill as address verification. If you go look on the ATF's website and read the instructions it covers what can be used.
