The NICS section doesn't ask for the address.

Correct but doesn't mean you wouldn't get a headache (so to speak) from it.

Maybe ??? I have no record. I am law abiding. Is the weapon you buy on the street from some guy the same ?? I have no problem with buying a weapon with no history from a FFL. I am more concerned with where has that weapon been ??? You know what I am talkin about, where has she been ?????

i do know that some people have a physical address, and a mailing address that are sometimes different. my father does. he recieves no mail where he lives because he uses a PO Box at the Post Office for a mailing address.
question is, does the ATF form 4473 ask for a physical address or a mailing address?
i really have never really paid attention, becausemy physical address and mailing address are the same.

There is a BATFE agent that I have had the pleasure to talk to on numerous occasions at my LGS. The 4473 has been the subject many times as to how long they are kept by the GS, (20 years), release to law enforcement, (court order) and their disposal when the dealer goes out of business. They are shipped to a warehouse in Va, and according to him, that is in complete disarray with 10's of 1,000's of forms that have not been filed for years since receipt because of the lack of man power and resources. So much for tracking the 4473 after it leaves the dealer.

The form states current address, no PO boxes.

i know some gun dealers i have bought from, that don't know me always ask if the address on my DL is correct. last year at one gun store i was buying at, refused to sell a firearm to a guy because his DL address didn't match the one on the 4473 form, because he had moved and hadn't done an address change on his DL. is this an ATF requirement or just done differently by the FFL license holder?

And the BATF has stormed into some gun shops demanding to copy the forms.
