Default What does "profiled" mean?

In relation to a tripod/pedestal mounted heavy machine gun, what does it mean when a fixed weapon is "profiled"? I was speaking to a Royal Marine the other day, and I didn't know what the hell he was talking about.

well sometimes it can mean that your fighting postion is highly visible from the flanks or front and profiled against a backdrop. basically most meanings have it your sticking out like a sore thumb.

royal marines may have a different meaning but that is typical.
