The gas tube is the portion above the barrel, to the rear of the front sights, and forward of the forearm.

If, on the other hand, I totally misunderstood your question, please jsut consider me dense (dehydrated from mowing lawn) and repost.

Perfect answer mate, is the gas block that part that connect it to the barrel just in front of the hand guard?

In Shihan's pictuee, you can see the gas block on the top of the barrel. It covers a small hole (gas port) bored into the barrel. The gas tube fits over the rear of the gas block, and contains the piston that is driven by gas from the bore. Piston slaps other parts, driving them to the rear to operate the action.
