M14 (M1A) caliber .308 (7.62mm x 51) full or semi-auto magazine fed rifle. This rifle was standard issue for the Viet Nam war soldiers. Mine was built by me as a semi-auto only Civilian M1A version with a Sako light weight national match barrel and a Springfield Armory receiver. It was glass bedded into a military walnut stock by a NCNG Match armorer. I used it in many civilian National Matches. Later, I topped it with an original Leatherwood ART II scope and added an original M2 bipod to use it in the NCNG Sniper competitions as a M21 SWS (Sniper Weapon System). It shot well (1 minute angle), but did not Hold its zero when the scope was taken off and re-attached ( mandatory for sniper matches). I have the GI AN/PVS-2 Night Vision Scope that was used on this rifle during the Viet Nam Era. I also have the USGI M6 bayonet and M10 scabbard - See more at: http://s285.photobucket.com/user/sniper762/media/GUNS/M212.jpg.html?sort=3&o=53#sthash.3zb0idfH.dpuf

Sniper762 that looks good. They sure are a good time on the range aren't they!
Mine was originally purchased by the guy I got it from to shoot matches in NY, but he didn't like the way NY laws went the other year, and decided to sell it instead of go through the government regulation and registration. He only got to shoot one match with it.
There aren't any matches in PA close to me, so for now I will have to be satisfied shooting it on my own range, which goes to 500 yards. One day I'll have to get it in a place I can actually see what it can do!!

It's a sage EBR chassis... Ranging anywhere from $700-1000. It's been adopted by the navy seals as their
DMR. Upon installation, you have to do a detailed strip of your M1A and remove the original op rod block and replace it with the sage op rod block, which locks into the actual chassis making the barrel completely free floating. Really great stock if you can afford to put another $700-1000 into an already expensive firearm like the M1A.

That's what I thought it was. Saw them at the New York Tactical Conference last year. They are very well made and lighter than they look. I really like the collapsable stock they came up with for it. It reminds me of the M 249 stock used by our military.

I think I went the opposite direction as the OP. Went from synthetic to wood. Here are pictures of my SOCOM II. I did none of the work. A gunsmith friend of mine did everything.imageuploadedbyfirearms-talk1397920629.390605.jpgimageuploadedbyfirearms-talk1397920292.102318.jpgimageuploadedbyfirearms-talk1397920401.611333.jpgimageuploadedbyfirearms-talk1397920429.205059.jpgimageuploadedbyfirearms-talk1397920458.285775.jpgimageuploadedbyfirearms-talk1397920485.686704.jpgimageuploadedbyfirearms-talk1397920518.769997.jpgimageuploadedbyfirearms-talk1397920540.252097.jpg
