First, the SKS is one of my favorite Milsurps.

You can have your AKMs, I've got one, and

it's no SKS.

I keep my Russian all original.

I have a couple minor aftermarket upgrades on my

Norinco.

Try a Yugo with the grenade launcher sometime. The Russians are a symphony

of balanced perfection, but the grenade launcher acts as a counterweight

to help put you back on target quickly.

This is the only place I know that had them and they are sold out.
Good luck in finding one.

I thank you much sir. Now I don't have to get that nerdy Tapco stock.

When I was 14 I bought a peban sks by norinco. It had a 30 round magazine, which meant a good lump of cash every range visit. I the gun was pretty reliable and ate up anything. Sadly, as a poor college student, I sold it, I might get a new one!

When I dumped the 30 round mag the barrel got pretty hot, but it didn't seem unusually prone to overheating.
