Default Sig Sauer 556R

I was just wondering what you guys think about the Sig 556R. It is chambered in 7.62x39, It is my understanding that it is Sig's version of an AK47. I am told it even accepts AK mags. What are your likes and dislikes of it. I am thinking about getting one.

It sounds like a very expensive ak.
Not that I don't like the Sig rifles but not a huge fan of the caliber.

Well I have a 5.56 and a 7 mag but I don't have anything in 7.62x39. I think it fills the gap between the two.
All of the AKs I am seeing for sale right now, people are asking $1,000 or more for used one. The price tag on the Sig is $1,249 and it's new. I don't know maybe I am just trying to talk myself into it.

Lol. If you're set on it get it. I'm sure it is a great rifle. Personally if I were looking for an ak I would hold off. The prices may be crazy right now but that doesn't really justify comparing a $1200 gun to an over priced $400-$600 gun. The ak is essentially a throw away gun. Paying jacked up prices for one is insane.

I have an AK 47 Romanian. I changed the stock from Wire to wood, and love to shoot it.. not a long range rifle by any stretch of the imagination.. but for what it is, it's a blast. looks like the Sig. version is a better built rifle..

You hit the nail on the head. I'm sure the Sig is well built I've yet to see a gun from them that isn't. For the price I'd go with a standard 5.56. That's all I'm saying. Nice ak btw.

I'm in colorado and the mag cap law is about to go through. A couple months ago I bought more than a couple tapco mags, been thinking this might work well with them, plus it would be cheap to feed.... and only 7lb...

I bought the Sig 556R about 8 months ago. It's a great rifle and I'm very happy with the purchase. It came with a Sig Sauer red dot sight and it is surprisingly very accurate. I paid $1,100.00 online from Osage County Guns on Gunbroker. I would encourage you to get one and I hope you let us know what you decide.

I would not mind the 550. Twice as expensive though. It is .223 though.
