Ok due to the relentless ranting on my original mistake of mentioning the "assault" rifle, I have changed the wording in the original post, thank you all for your input. Further input would be welcome.

That's funny.
Like Argyle said, universal functionality trumps proprietary. Get a mil spec.

Noveske
BCM
Daniel Defense
PSA
RRA
Spikes
Colt

Not in order of preference, just listing some good mil-spec options.

My first post, so be nice IMHO the Sig 556 is GTG. It has the controls of an AR-15, and the reliability of an AK-47. IMHO the Sig 556 is slightly less accurate the a stock lower end AR-15 with mil-surp ammo. I have 1,300 rds thru mine with no problems. It can reach out and touch a person at 300 yds.

I have to be honest with everyone. I have said assault rifle in the past, forgetting I am talking to my fellow US citizens on this forum. It is a matter of habit. Those who have met Germans, realize they do not beat around the bush. Could not care less if they are politically correct. Very straight forward people. So, when something looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, Germans will call it a duck. Germans call an AR15, AK, G3, SL8, AUG and other military looking guns a Sturmgewehr (assault rifle), which also shows as a Class 3 weapon on my weapons card. It does not matter if it is semi-auto weapon (Selbstladewaffen) or full auto. A policeman or gate guard will say "oh you have a Sturmgewehr, can I see your weapons card to insure it belongs to you." When hunters meet, we say "sturmgewehr" when talking about our rifles. Sad that the US gun community has to be politically correct in what is considered the most firearms friendly country in the world.

Tests dont show it to be less accurate than a low end mil spec di gun. It's capable of good grouping, as are many high end piston ar's. Nutnfancy (love him or hate him) has shot 1/4 inch hundred yard groups with an lwrc m6a2. My faith in piston guns is pretty high as long as they are built right. I'm aware the lwrc is a higher end weapon than the Sig, but either way, I think the piston guns are only going to get better with time.
