LOL that's deal with being brainwashed, you don't even know it happened

Of course you can assault something but it seems the concept of "defense" rather than "assault" would be a more positive way to consider firearms and our second amendment rights. The more people that keep calling them assault weapons just feed into the fears of the uneducated sheeple and gun grabber agenda.

Soon they will try to make the term "semi-auto" somehow evil. Just saw a news report on the math teacher that was killed by a student and because it was not an AR15 that was used in the crime, the media didn't have any evil fear mongering terms like "assault weapon" to throw around. Instead they kept referring to the weapon as a "semi-auto" like that actually describes anything bad...like it actually describes something in any detail at all?!?!? LOL.

Sorry didn't mean to turn this into a political thread...end rant/

Just to be clear, I don't necessarily disagree with you. I am just not attributing as much emphasis on it. It's as if the term assault rifle has become synonymous with a military styled rifle. Whether good or bad can be debated for a while I am sure. Almost like "Kleenex" is synonymous for tissue or "Band Aid" for a bandage.

The media will continue to put it's liberal spin on it regardless.

So why help them?
If it isn't select fire, it isn't an assault rifle.
It really is that simple.

I love SIG. But I like the AR platform. Consider a SIG 516 instead.
I opted for a PWS, best of both worlds IMO. Long stroke piston and pretty much an AR on the outside. I have a spare BGC in the event of a failure as it's proprietary. But other than that for external upgrades and accessories, it's all AR.

an assault rifle is a military rifle, meaning it can fire either in semi-auto or fully auto mode. and yes, even the three round burst mode is considered fully auto by the BATF. (anything that can fire more than one round per trigger pull, is considered fully auto)

assualt rifle used by the media was coined to bring a negative potrayal of certain styles of firearms to make them appear evil and used by those intent on doing evil. that is why many gun owners like myself, detest the terms, "assualt rifle", or "assault weapon" and even the term, "sniper rifle". as they are used to bring emotion of playing upon those who don't know the difference.

I owned a sig 556 classic swat an eventually got rid of it. Nice gun. Never had a problem with it and it definitely impressed people more than my ar15. That being said I don't think the 556series is a great platform for the 556 caliber. The gun is quite a bit heavier than an ar or probably even an ak in 5.56. Additionally due to the piston system it has more muzzle rise than an ar15.

I could deal with it either being heavier or it having more recoil but both I can't. I probably could have put a different muzzle break on it but when I compared it to my ar15, both rifles having a standard birdcage flash suppressor the ar was much better handling both because of its weight and reduced recoil.

Moral of the story in my opinion. Don't buy a rifle that heavy unless it's a 7.62 caliber.
