Supposedly the 20" barrels will be available for individual purchase. The 16" scar17 barrel is Stupid accurate. Mine is way submoa with hunting ammo and even more so with target ammo. I dont see a need for a longer barrel in this gun.

I'd like a more precision barrel, like a stainless.

For a little more range perhaps?

I've been tinkering around with an ar10 buildsheet for a 500+ yard shooter, 20" build, but if there's a Scar I might have to scrap that.

But damn if a CHF chromelined barrel can do sub moa, imagine what a nice stainless would do......300 yard cloverleafs? /drool

Gotcha, so the CHF chrome lined barrel just adds longevity to the life of the barrel.

CHF makes a stronger more wear resistant barrel.

Chrome makes it last longer and easier to clean but also makes it a little less precise.

JonM's been getting sub moa on his Scar 17, and that's impressive. I think he'd be getting better results if the barrel was a stainless. I'm sure he'd agree.

Honestly I wish people would make an upper reciever and parts for the SCAR platform so we can start building them like we do ARs.

That'd be dope

Cool thanks. I know, the scar 17 has really caught my eye. Too bad I'm looking for a job at the moment haha.

As if you need another person to agree about the SCAR 17, I love mine. I have had it for a year and a half. When I bought it I ordered some mags from Brownwells, they arrived 14 months later. Yes, mags were very hard to find when it came out. I was at a gun show today and they had all the SCAR 17's you wanted for $2599.00 in black or $2799.00 in FDE. Why would it cost more for an FDE? Mine just happens to be FDE, but they were priced the same back then. +1 on the incredible accuracy from a 16" barrel. +1 on the awesome stock barrel brake, it allows very little rise for the follow up shot. +1 on the very low recoil, compared to a PTR-91, FAL, or HK MR762.

The vast majority of discussion was about the SCAR? I didn't hardly notice the rifle.
