Default Ruger mini 14 tactical

Hey guys, my brother has been looking for a new 223 and had it narrowed down between the kel tec su 16B sport utility rifle and the mini 14 tactical. He has decided on the mini 14 and I'm wondering if you guys have had any experience with this rifle. Good and bad just wanting some input before he pulls the trigger on a $725.00 rifle. He has built ar15 s so he is not looking to buy another one. Just something new and fun to shoot. Any input would be great guy thanks Griffin.

let the bullets do the talking!

The SU-16 has some neat features that I myself rather like. The ability to store another mag in the stock is nice one. But I've not shot either. I think when everyone jumps on this one, you'll hear something along the lines of the mini's action being a superior action. I'd also probably say the mini would feel more robust.

Has your friend considered a bolt action in .223? My dad has a Savage 10 in .223 and the thing is stupid accurate. We're talking 1/2 moa out of the box with PMC Bronze.

He has a rem 700 tactical 308. So he's just looking for another good tactical plinker for the range and something to Carry in his patrol car.

I just purchased these 2. Both are Ruger Mini 14 Tactical Models. One in Stainless Steel, one in blued. Both run like scalded dogs. Ruger has improved these guns in both the dependability and accuracy department. The barrels are thicker, and the method they use where they attach the barrel to the gas block has also been improved so as not to tweak the barrel. This helps prevent shots from "walking" all over the target when the barrel heats up.

Another thing is with the demise of Bill Ruger, the company is shipping the gun with 20 and 30 round factory Ruger magazines instead of forcing customers to buy crappy aftermarket magazines that never ran right. The Mini 14 is one of the best all around "fun guns" out there.

Default Buy a hunting rifle

Buy a hunting rifle, there usefull during deer season, get a Browning BAr in
.243 Win or 7mm-08.

Hard to argue with performance of 100gr and heaver bullets, the .223 works great on varmits and thin skinned predators.....Ruger way back when the Mini came out (in the American Rifleman ads) stated the Mini-14 as a varmit gun.

I've got enough of those to sink a container vessel.
