Quick Help!! Century Arms G3???

I have been offered a Century Arms G3 in trade for 2 guns of mine worth about $800-900 I would love a 308 battle rifle, but I don't know much about these. Are they worth it? What is the difference between a Century CETME and a Century G3???? HELP HELP HELP, I'm supposed to meet this guy tomorrow night.

Expensive to feed right now. 7.62NATO/.308 win. is not cheap. At least in my neck of the woods..

from really quick googling of the cetme/g3 they run maybe around 650-700. so used..? prolly not a good deal. better off buying a AR pattern .308 in my opinion if you REALLY gotta have one.

.223 is a better battle rifle round. can carry more ammo for the same weight and it is just as effective with less recoil on soft targets in case of zombie invasion. the ammo is more plentiful. parts for AR rifles are plentiful and easy to find. parts mags and such for euro rifles arent so easy to get since the euros took the dive into marxism.

anyway just my opinion. do some googling on the prices of the cetme stuff if its even price wise used for used and you REALLLLLY gotta have the euro shooter go ahead. if its not just go to a gun show and buy a used one or a new one. but its ultimately up to you. all i can do is give a bad opinion :)

all depends on what your 2 guns are worth to you, and how much you really like the CETME/G3 family. having one of each, there really isn't too much different about them, maybe the magazines. from a distance, most would not be able to tell one from the other. my G3 is a little more accurate than the CETME. at 100 yards, with match ammo, i can average 1.5 MOA with the G3. not too bad. the CETME spreads them out averaging 2-3MOA. dunno why, just how it's always been. and if you are thinking about reloading, well...know that both kick the brass about 30-40feet out to the right, and some are pretty dinged up. but, as someone else already stated, if you can get $8-900 for your 2 guns, you might be better off doing that, then putting in the difference and picking up an AR in 308. it till be more accurate, more accessories for it, etc. just my .02

I bought one of them setme's from dunhams and it was junk. the bullet would jam in the recever after the first shot everytime and there wasnt nothin taking it out.i had to send it in 3 times before i got my money back.3 months of bull I don't ever want to deal with again.

Thanks for your input guys. I backed out of the deal, between what I learned here and the fact that it was going to be a 5 hour round trip to get it, I decided it was a no go. The guy was NOT happy though, told me we had an agreement and that I am a low life and not a man of my word for backing out. He compared the deal to buying a house, using earnest money as his example. I felt bad for backing out at first, but after the character attack he can go to H*** :) I'm a little worried though, he claims to be a state trooper...............

well did you trade anythinglike money or just said you would think about it??

if he turns out to be a state trooper and he is using his position to bully you into a bad deal then have speaks with his supervisor.

We didn't trade anything, no money was involved. All I did was work out what i would offer in trade and agreed to meet him, I never said... "Yeah, I'll take it". He's just being a D-Bag.

then dont worry about it. you can put a douche in a cop suit and it is still a douche filled suit heh. in general i have a great deal of respect for law enforcement but like anything else there are bad ones mixed in the group.

If you really like the style of the G3/G1/Cetme, keep looking. There are lots of extras for these rifles.
I had to chuckle when I read here that the 5.56 was more effective and easier to get ammo for. The Cetme/G3 use a delayed roller blowback system that makes felt recoil next to nothing. The Cetme and G3 use the same mags, they cost me $1.95 each last week from I.O.. Difference is the bolt dimensions. Stocks, trigger groups.. 90% of the parts are interchangable. I have about $529.00 into this one including Stanlag mount and Hensoldt Z24
optics. A buddy is bringing the can, caps, and reticule illuminator from Germany this spring. Concidering he lives in a socialist country, there are lots of rifles and accesories there. They have auction sites, just like us. Infact you can buy from them here in the U.S.

This is my G3A3ZF clone.
