The 1928 has the better eye appeal, but I would take either.

and here is the 1928A1 simplicity of the M1 with the capacity of the earlier model. plus I presonally like the horizontal foregrip!

agreed,1928-a1 far better. best of both worlds.
By the way, that's what Saunders used.
