What red dot can you recommend for a .308 rifle (below $200 as much as possible)?

I am considering these but not sure which will work well with 308 or if these are better options out there.

dot sights are close quarters sights. they lose a lot of utility past 150yds. 308 is a medium to long range round. what rifle are you putting it on??

.308 deserves a 4x or better scope. A red dot, depending upon size of dot, will cover most of the deer at 200 yards which means you won't be able to aim as well as the rifle can shoot unless it's a complete dog.

If you hunt in heavy timber with no chance of a long shot any of those red-dots you listed would be fine. If you're just farting around on the range, get whichever one you like best. I have a $40 BSA from Wal-mart on a 30-30 and it works just fine but probably won't last as long as the better quality sights.

Just planning ahead for a possible buy of a Kel-Tec RFB (bull pup). I am not going to use this for long shots (have a hunting rifle for that).

This is more for 50-100 yard cool (farting around the) range toy and if SHTF for CQ engagement.

the ones you listed arent going to be able to take much of a beating a shortbarrel 308 will dish out over time. its more the muzzle blast than recoil. but i dont think a more pricey scope would serve your range toy better. you can buy 4 or 5 aimpoints for the ones you list and i doubt the keltec will last long enough to abuse that many to death especially while the dot is under warraty.

pick the one with the best warranty.
