Tell him the Chinese and Russians are better than the Yugoslav, and are in higher demand. I would rather have an Sks than a 22 pistol, imo.

If he had a higher end one I think I would jump on the trade. The pistol is a 9mm though. Lol
I honestly believe I could get $600 for the walther (personal sale or auction). I think at most the sks is worth maybe $500. With a few hundred rounds of ammo. I guess its not a bad trade. Idk I'm on the fence.

The Walther's worth more, AFAIK.
The real question here is the condition of the SKS.
IMO, the SKS owner should cough up 200$ and some
ammo if the SKS is in less than Very Good condition,
100 and some ammo if it's in Very Good condition, with
all matching serials.

Wow I didn't think the trade values were that far off. The walther is in perfect condition and has night sights. The sks is decent and in a tapco stock so I'm assuming its been worked over.

Where I live in Ga. the SKS Norinco or Yugo sells in good used condition for $250.00 to $300.00. The folding stock will add $50.00 and the conversion clip will add $20.00 + 200 rnds ammo = $40.00 for a total of $360.00 to $410.00. Extra clips ??? Ever what you'll pay.
Now the P99 has a book value in VG @ $550.00....but they sell for $350.00 around here...because the more popular S&W 99 is the same gun made by Walther, except the slide and barrel sales for $300.00 to $350.00 in VG condition. If it wasn't for Bond 007, the Walthers wouldn't even be heard of.
Smith has come out with some M&P's and VE's that are more desireable than the old guns and at cheaper prices. Walthers remind me of a Range Rover compared to a Jeep. One is just more expensive .
I have owned two walthers for about 30 + years and never could hit sqwat with them, but they are pretty and my wife likes pretty stuff, so I keep them.
In my opinion, I would keep trying to sell the P99...Was it not PT Barnum that said " A sucker is born every minute". Some sucker will buy it sooner or later.
