*whistles*
I don't which would cost more, an M1 Garand or the new AR-15 I plan on buying. Anyway, thanks for the pricing.
I may have to keep an eye on CMP in the future to see if any good deals come in. BTW, are the replicas that SA sell pretty pricey as well?

I think the new Springfield Armory Garands cost more than original Garands. You can find originals in gun shops for around $700. on up depending on how original they are and their condition.
Mine is a 1943. It's a Springfield, the most prolific manufacturer of Garands. At the ages you'll find one, it's highly unlikely that you'll find one that's all original and matching. Most have been rearsenalled over the years and whatever parts were necessary were changed out with the parts on hand. That's where the term "Mixmaster" comes from.
All original and matching will cost appropriately. Generally they can run from $1500. on up to crazy money.
I will say this....
there is nothing else like a real Garand out there.

Well that sucks.
Here I was hoping I could get a new one from them some day.
Thanks for the heads up.

There are new SA Garands to be found out there, but there's just something special about the real thing.

I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments on the issue.
However, I would like to own one of each some day.
BTW, do you have any idea CA357 where I could find a brand spanking new SA Garand other than the usual online auction sites?

Newly manufactured Springfield Armory Garands can still be found on gunshop racks here and there. Some of them are commemoratives and can be very pricey. They come in a really nice box with some nice paperwork, but you're gonna' pay for it.
Orlando accurately stated that a Correct grade or Select grade from CMP is as close to a new original Garand as you can get.
If you can afford both, good for you. Enjoy!
