DefaultMy first Semi Automatic in NYS

Alright well i have decided to get either the colt l6920 or the 6940 when i save up enough money. I have done a lot of research on the guns and have not heard anything bad on these and have been recomended to colt for an AR-15. Anyways i went to PA today to look at Gander Mountain and they had the 6920 there so i got to hold it etc and after holding it decided enough waiting im going to buy it. I knew i couldnt buy it in PA but he told me i cant even own this gun or alot of AR-15 in New York State. I thought what the hell so i called up buffalo gun center and they stated that the 6920 can only be bought by law enforcement. While my question is what are some of the more extensive gun laws in NYS.

Also my second question is i work for the sheriffs department as a corrections officer and he stated all i have to do is show me a badge. Is this legal as i do not want to get in trouble as i know i am a corrections officer but not a road patrol or law enforcement officer but still employed by the sheriffs department. Any guidence would be appreciated

For the record, FTF does not endorse, support the legal advice of its membership, nor do we offer legal advice of any kind. Consult your attorney for legal questions regarding firearms in your state. The FTF flunked our Bar Exam.

Only a fool would take legal advice from us.

Taking legal advice from a public forum is only exceeded in stupidity by the people that offer that advice! - canebrake

With that said, get the Colt LE 6940. I love mine.

I'm a Colt fan, can you save some cash and get an AR for less? Sure, just like you can find many non-Colt 1911's.

But it's not a Colt! If you get it, it's in your blood, if not, meh!
