I thought about buying one of these rifles. After a lot of research I bought a ruger 10/22 instead. I'm looking for a second one that I will turn into a "black rifle" with the nearly endless supply of after market items you can purchase for 10/22s.

From what I've seen you can modify a 10/22 to resemble a mp5 for considerable savings. Personally I decided when I make the jump to an ar type rifle I'm going to get one chambered for NATO rounds. Hope this helps.

Anyone with more experience with these rifles please correct me if I'm wrong.

if your going for the cool factor and target shooting. if you like it do it, ive heard they run just fine. if you intend to ever hunt. do the already mentioned 10/22 with after market parts. not always cheaper but alot more accurate if you ask me

I have one in the sd variant. I love it. Buy extra clips and run decent ammo through it. I use CCI.

Considered one a while back but decided on the M&P 15-22 instead. It's been outstanding and in hindsight it was a good decision on my part. Accessories/parts are easier to find and cheaper for the 15-22 plus it has a lot of rails to hold any goodies you want to add.
