BTW, if you don't know what you want, do some internet searches and make note of what catches your eye. Then hit up the gun shows to handle them. You won't really know what works for you until you've handled the weapon.

Some of the better gun shops/ranges have rentals you can try. Mine does!

Thanks so much for all the suggestions guys! I really appreciate it! The range I go to has really Awsome rentals so ill start with that! I appreciate all of your insights and will take each suggestion and look into all of them with depth!

By definition an assault rifle is a rapid-fire, magazine-fed automatic rifle designed for infantry use. Automatic being the key word.

I agree, when you take automatic fire capability out of the equation, a rifle is a rifle. Semi or bolt, pistol grip or sporter stock. It's all government designation.

Nobody has mentioned an ak. You could outfit an ak for 1200.00 and have one bad azz rifle.
