m1a socom/scout accuracy

Hey guys, I'm planning on getting a springfield socom or possibly the scout. I am building a few more ars but I would like a 16" .308 battle rifle for hog hunting/truck/brush/shtf. What kind of accuracy ar guys getting with these shorter barreled m1a's? The .308 is a potent round and a lot of guys are shooting 1000 yards with bolt guns. Not that I will be shooting that far, the longest here would be 500 yards unless on the powerline. But what's the farthest shots that have been taken with these m1a's and what kind of accuracy do they have at 300-500 yards?

I absolutely live my scout squad. Have done nothing to it, didn't have to. 1 1/4 group open sights at 100. Bust balloons at 300 off hand and supported with sling in wind. Never though I'd like an M1A this much but I adore it.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I'm hoping to get a chance to handle one this weekend.
