M1 Garand ammo question

Hey guys I picked up an m1 today, and some ammo. I payed about $5 a box more than "normal" 30-06 is there any real reason I cannot shoot normal springfeild 30-06 out of an m1? Or should I look for boxes marked m1?
Ps I bought American Eagle 30-06 for M1 this time

I believe newer ammo is to hot for them. Over gasses them and can bend the operating rod. Pretty sure there's adjustable gas valves out there to shoot the new stuff though. Someone more knowledgable should pop in and confirm or correct me lol

Garand is designed for M2 ball. Other rounds can have the wrong pressure curve, and you will damage the operating rod. Check the CMP for Garand ammo.

Congrats. But yeah c3 is spot on. The CMP has 200 rounds of Greek Pyrkal M2 ball for $99. Watch out though, they say its non-corrosive but you should clean it as if it were corrosive just to be safe.

Look into the Schuster gas nut. Adjustable to allow the use of most commercial ammo.

C3 thanks, that's where I was planning ongetting some ammo and it sounds like its a more reasonable price than what I bought.

Thanks for the info about the nut ill look into that too.

The Grek HXP CMP sells is NOT corrosive
