Not wishing to hijack Bleak23's thread, I will post my question here.
Please bare in mind that I am in UK and not familiar with US laws. Please correct me if I have missed something.

To legally own an FN FAL in the USA, it has to have a non original lower receiver ( restricted to semi auto only ) because the original would have been full auto capable.

As the L1A1 pattern SLR was manufactured as a semi auto only and was never full auto capable, under US law, would it also have to have a non original lower receiver ?

That depends. If this is a DSA then no. A DSA is American Manufacturer. If it is a pats go still no I have a parts FAL Argentina Barrel and stock Brazilian receiver, US stock and flash suppressor, US gas rod and tube, and a few others.
