If you're looking to build an AR platform .308, I would shy away from Armalite. Parts are damn near impossible to get.

I had a Saiga 308. It was accurate enough but for todays price I couldn't recommend it. If they were still under $400 I would say go for it. Accuracy and dependability being key factors for me and I hunt they are still trying to beat the BAR for large calibers.

That is one sweet gun, Cane!

Sooner or later, I'm gonna have one!

These are some really good responses. While out getting my 5.56 receivers, I checked out a NA 9102 CA MA National Match. I, as nieve on this subject as I am, really dont know what I'm looking at. Listening to a salesman is conflict of interest. i liked it because it had longer barrel. The way I understood it, it was a step up on accuracy from the standard. But then your straying from the way gun was originally designed. ? I've always leaned towards extra weight and length to a certain degree for accuracy. I dont think I'll get into the DPMS, but am now interested in find out more about the rock river version. Its a bum thsese arent as versatile as the ar 15s. So I'm all ears on any more of this. ??

I'm pretty new to the AR10 platform also but learning a lot. That colt is nice. From what I understand you can switch back and forth between 5.56 and .308 by changing the upper. The DPMS platform has been pretty much flawless for me and is more flexible than Armalite or RRA. Other mfgs make uppers that use the DPMS pattern platform. I believe JP is one of them. Nothing fits Armalite except Armalite and I haven't experienced the RRA but there are non standard functions that I don't see as interchangeable. I'm currently looking for a Sig716 or a POF. These .308s are definately a different world but awesome to shoot.

Default le 901

I bought an le 901. I want to purchase an aimpoint T1 or now, until I decide on a magnified optic. Since you use a T1 on your .308, what do you recommend for a QD mount for the T1?

Canebrake, what optics do you run on your 901, if any?
