good beginner rifle

Hey all, i was just wondering what a good, beginner's semi-auto rifle would be? i've seen ar-15's and m4's but i was wondering what version(s) would be best. preferably something under $1000. i've seen some bushmasters at cabellas going for around $750. any word on those? thank you in advance!

At $750 a PSA would be better than a Bushmaster IMO, Core-15 makes a good AR in that range and there are a few others depending on what purpose your rifle will be used for. Stag, DPMS and others can be had as well.

My first rifle was a remington .22 single shot bolt action. Don't know what model 'cause it is at my in-laws in storage. Can't keep guns in house cause of son-in-law being a bad boy when he was younger-another story altogether.

Give us a little background info. how old are you? what do you intend to do with the gun? all this matters, guns are tools you need the right tool

I hate to sound a little old school here, but isn't 1K$ for

a beginner's rifle a little nutz?

You can get a stainless steel Marlin 60 with a scope

for less than 250$.

hey, i went with the m&p 15-22. Amazing gun! i decided on a .22 bc of the versatility and price of ammo. thanks everyone!

That's a well regarded rifle, and the ammo

won't run ya an arm and a leg.

Happy shooting!
