Default Garand Functioning

Can anyone point me to a detailed description of the relationship of the bullet guide, accelerator and clip latch timing?

It has been a LONG time since Garand classes in Marine Corps Boot Camp (1955) and I can't figure out how a worn bullet guide nose would cause the clip latch to release early resulting in the infamous 7 round clip ejection.

Thanks

Paul

A worn follower arm will throw off the timing. Try that first and check the mainspring as well. Here is a video.

Edit: Couldn't find this before but it shows the same.

Thanks the film was really close to what I'm looking for. It leaves off the function of the accelerator which if memory serves me right can come into play in the 7th round clip ejection problem.

Cheers:
